Heirloom, a pioneering direct air capture company, secured a strategic investment from United Airlines Ventures’ Sustainable Flight Fund, providing it with capital to accelerate the scaling of its DAC technology, which captures carbon dioxide directly from the atmosphere.
As part of the agreement, the fund has secured the right to purchase up to 500,000 tons of carbon dioxide removal, or CDR, positioning Heirloom as a key supplier of CO2 for sustainable aviation fuels production or permanent sequestration.
A critical component of the deal is Heirloom’s expansion into northwest Louisiana, where the company has secured an exclusive land option at the Port of Caddo-Bossier. The move marks a significant step toward scaling DAC to megaton capacity, solidifying the region’s role in the growing carbon management economy.
By establishing operations in Louisiana, Heirloom is laying the foundation for a robust CO2 supply chain that will attract industrial partners, including SAF producers and manufacturers utilizing CO2 for low-carbon products.
The investment bolsters Louisiana’s leadership in carbon capture, utilization and storage, a sector vital to the state’s economic future and energy transition. By integrating DAC into the state’s industrial landscape, Louisiana can preserve existing energy jobs while driving emissions reductions, attracting new industries and diversifying its economy.
