Recent permit records show that a new building permit was recently issued for a 40-door cross-dock warehouse facility project at 8601 Tom Drive in Baton Rouge to accommodate a new Baton Rouge service center for North Carolina-based Old Dominion Freight Line. The project is valued at $10 million. Plans call for a roughly 19,000-square-foot facility, including a 15,000-square-foot dock and around 4,000 square feet of office space.
Texas company Schwob Building Co. is the contractor, while Nashville-based Mollenkopf Design Group is designing the project.Old Dominion purchased the vacant 19-acre tract for the new facility in 2023 for $2.2 million.The facility will be near the 61 North Logistics Center, which will house operations for Amazon, and Crescent Crown Distribution, which recently expanded its facility. The developments are also located less than 2 miles from the Amazon fulfillment center.
Old Dominion’s current service center sits on approximately 4 acres on South Perdue Avenue near South Choctaw Drive. The company’s Baton Rouge service center serves shippers in the Gulf Coast region of the state.
