Turkish energy company Botas has signed a deal with US liquefied natural gas (LNG) company Argent LNG to set up a supply framework from its Port Fourchon LNG site in Louisiana to Turkey, reports Gas World. Under a memorandum of understanding (MoU), the partnership has laid out ambitions to scale US LNG distribution across Turkey and wider Europe.

It is believed the pair could establish Turkey as a “regional energy anchor” amid ongoing geopolitical instability in the Middle East and global LNG supply chain disruption.

In May 2024, the company agreed to receive up to 2.5 million tons of LNG per annum from global gas company ExxonMobil in the US for 10 years. And in September 2025, it also signed an agreement with Swiss energy company Mercuria to import around 70 billion cubic meters of U.S. LNG over 20 years. Read more from Gas World.
