The final new LNG carrier commissioned for deliveries from Cameron LNG has been completed.

Marine Link reports the 155,000 m3 capacity carrier—named Marvel Pelican—was built by Japanese public multinational corporation Kawasaki Heavy Industries and designed to enable passage through the newly expanded Panama Canal.

The Marvel Pelican will be used by Mitsui O.S.K. Lines primarily to transport LNG procured via the southwest Louisiana LNG facility.

It is the third of the three new-building LNG carriers that will sail under charter contracts signed in September 2014 and January 2015 with Mitsui & Co., which has an equity stake in Cameron LNG.

The first carrier—named Marvel Eagle—was completed in October 2018; the second—named Marvel Heron—in October 2019. All three vessels employ unique technological features.
