Federal regulators have signed off on a major timeline extension for one of Louisiana’s largest energy projects, Reuters reports.
The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission approved Cameron LNG’s request for five additional years—until March 2033—to complete construction of its next export facility and place it into service. Majority-owned by Sempra Infrastructure, Cameron LNG has been a key driver of U.S. liquefied natural gas exports, helping position the country as the world’s top supplier since 2023.
The extension comes amid renewed momentum in the LNG sector after President Donald Trump lifted a moratorium on new export permits earlier this year, unlocking fresh commercial activity.
