Turner Industries Chairman Emeritus Roland Toups was honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award at the inaugural Louisiana Energy Awards, presented by 10/12 Industry Report and Baton Rouge Business Report. The ceremony, held Nov. 5 at L’Auberge Casino & Hotel Baton Rouge, recognized top executives, companies and innovators driving excellence, innovation and growth across Louisiana’s energy sector.
The Louisiana Energy Awards honor the companies, leaders and initiatives driving excellence, innovation and sustainable growth across Louisiana’s energy economy.
Toups was selected by an independent panel of industry judges and received the honor from Louisiana Economic Development Secretary Susan Bourgeois in recognition of his decades of leadership, workforce development advocacy and community service.
Under Toups’ leadership, Turner Industries grew from 100 employees to more than 20,000, becoming one of Louisiana’s largest and most respected industrial contractors with $3 billion in annual revenue. He also helped launch LSU’s construction management program and served on numerous statewide boards—including the Louisiana Board of Regents and the Louisiana Chamber of Commerce—earning a reputation for ethical leadership and civic devotion.
Turner Industries provides turnkey services for heavy industrial clients in the United States. Founded in 1961 and headquartered in Baton Rouge, the company’s services include construction, maintenance, fabrication, equipment, and specialty services. Turner serves clients in energy, chemical, manufacturing and infrastructure sectors nationwide.
A man of deep Catholic faith, Toups attributes his success to the values of service and integrity that have guided his six decades in the industry. He continues to serve in an advisory role as his son, Stevie Toups, leads Turner Industries into its next chapter.
