Livingston Parish President Randy Delatte on Thursday issued a statement on social media dispelling “rumors” that PALA Interstate’s recently announced expansion project in the parish is in some way tied to carbon capture and sequestration.

“There’s a narrative circulating that the PALA expansion in Livingston Parish is tied to carbon capture,” Delatte wrote. “At this time, we have not seen any documentation that supports that claim.”

The parish president asked that anyone claiming otherwise share a “source, contract reference or project scope document” backing up their claim with his office.

PALA Group President and CEO Scott Barringer confirmed that the project is not tied to CCS, adding that he doesn’t know how the rumor got started.

The project in question is a $1.9 million expansion of PALA Interstate’s Livingston Parish operations, announced in August. The project will see a new paint and blasting shop built and new equipment added to PALA’s existing 70,000-square-foot Livingston Parish facility.

“The publicly released information on this project is straightforward. … We respect that people may have questions about growth, and they deserve clear answers based on verifiable information,” Delatte wrote. “The practical approach is to separate rumors from documented facts.”

PALA Interstate is an industrial construction firm headquartered in Baton Rouge that specializes in metal fabrication.
