Cameron Parish is projected to collect more than $4 billion in property taxes over the next 10 years as industrial tax exemptions for six LNG facilities begin to expire, reports KPLC TV.

The state of Louisiana’s Industrial Tax Exemption Program (ITEP) provides an 80 percent property tax abatement for new manufacturers for up to 10 years. Those exemptions are set to begin expiring this year for LNG companies operating in Cameron Parish.

In 2026, Cameron Parish will collect a total of $75 million in property taxes from all property owners across the parish. As ITEP exemptions for Cameron LNG, Sabine Pass, and Venture Global’s facilities begin to expire, collections are expected to nearly double, with $63 million more levied in 2027.

By 2037, the parish is projected to collect more than $300 million per year. Over 10 years, LNG facilities alone are expected to contribute $3.1 billion. Read more from KPLC TV.
