When it comes to industrial event work, time is money – and safety is paramount. Turner Industries has become the go-to event work contractor for facilities across the country, performing more shutdowns, turnarounds and outages than any other industrial contractor. With over 60 years of experience serving the energy sector, Turner safely leads the way in this critical field.
The power of a unified approach
Turner’s “One Solution for Your Success” approach to event work delivers measurable benefits that directly impact clients’ bottom lines. Imagine having a single point of contact for all your turnaround needs, with every service working in unified coordination. That’s the core advantage Turner brings to every project.
By consolidating multiple service providers into a single contractor, Turner eliminates coordination complexities and reduces overhead costs. This streamlined approach enhances
safety through unified management and innovative digital tools, while improving efficiency through integrated planning and faster project completion.
From specialized welding to crane and rigging, mechanical services to inspections, Turner provides the full suite of turnkey solutions required for successful event work. The company’s service offerings include equipment and rigging; scaffolding, insulation, painting and abatement (SIPA); piping and equipment installation; tray and tower services; heater and boiler work; FCCU/coker revamps; and more – all backed by advanced project controls systems.
Specialized expertise that delivers results
For nearly 25 years, Turner’s Specialized Welding Services (SWS) group has earned client trust nationwide by delivering safe, quality work with unmatched productivity. The SWS team brings vast experience managing and executing major events across the country, proving time and again that they can handle even the most challenging applications with skill and precision. Their capabilities span alloy welding, heater and furnace repairs, ammonia and hydrogen reformer work and ASME code-compliant pressure vessel modifications.
Turner’s SIPA group represents another area of specialized excellence. With over 1,500 qualified professionals, the group erects and dismantles 50 million vertical feet of scaffolding annually – equivalent to climbing Mount Everest more than 1,700 times. They also install over 4 million linear feet of insulation each year. This isn’t just about impressive numbers; it’s about the depth of experience and capability that ensures your turnaround stays on schedule.
Proven performance across the Gulf Coast
Turner’s track record speaks volumes, and here’s a closer look at some recent successful turnaround projects:
In Corpus Christi, Texas, Turner successfully managed a major plant turnaround and expansion project while achieving a three-year recordable-free safety milestone. With a peak headcount of 280 employees managing multiple complex projects simultaneously, the
team accumulated nearly 337,000 total safe work hours across the turnaround, expansion and ongoing maintenance work.
For a major turnaround in Plaquemine, Louisiana, Turner fabricated and installed 21,000 feet of pipe, completing 6,495 welds with less than 1.5 percent rejection rate, and building over 400 scaffolds – all while achieving zero OSHA recordables across 251,352 work hours over seven months.
At a plant in Pasadena, Texas, Turner executed a turnaround in just 25 days with no recordable incidents. This marked the second time Turner was selected for this critical event, demonstrating the client confidence earned through consistent performance and safety excellence.
Why the integrated approach matters
Turner’s industry-leading safety record, proven project management systems and ability to rapidly mobilize large, skilled workforces set the company apart. The contractor’s 24-hour emergency services and extensive equipment fleet ensure quick response when urgent needs arise. Turner’s commitment to innovation drives continuous investment in new technologies and methods that enhance efficiency and minimize downtime.
The consolidation of services under one contractor means more than just convenience. It allows for an integrated approach where different specialties collaborate, leading to better results and increased value. By offering complete turnkey turnaround services, Turner eliminates the need for multiple contractors, lowering the total cost of ownership while providing clients with a single point of contact.
