St. Landry Parish has two newly certified sites comprising a combined 123 acres in the Port Barre Industrial Park.
The Port Barre Industrial Park East site and Port Barre Industrial Park Central site have been certified under the Louisiana Economic Development (LED) Certified Sites program. The 86.60-acre and 36.85-acre sites are the thirteenth and fourteenth certified sites in the Acadiana area and the third and fourth in St. Landry Parish.
“The Hwy 190 Corridor between Port Barre and Krotz Springs is well aligned to grow significantly as a multimodal industrial corridor that will bring in significant capital investments and job creation over the near term,” St. Landry Economic Development Executive Director Bill Rodier said in making the announcement last week. “The certification of these sites for the Port Barre Industrial Park will help to further solidify this foundation for growth and should greatly accelerate the investment and job creation process in St Landry Parish and upper Acadiana along this important corridor.”
Through the LED certified site program, industrial sites are put through a rigorous review process by a third-party engineering firm. Site details, such as zoning restrictions, title work, environmental studies, soil analysis and surveys, are assessed for compliance and authenticity.
One Acadiana says that the tracts meet the state’s priority to certify land as industrial sites.
“The certified sites at the Port Barre Industrial Park represent what site selectors are looking for in marketable, shovel-ready land,” President & CEO of One Acadiana Troy Wayman said. “With these certifications, Acadiana now has over 1,700 acres of certified acreage across fourteen sites. Our work with partners across the region to achieve this number of certified sites within four years shows tremendous collaboration and we’re proud to celebrate today’s accomplishment with St. Landry Parish.”
