Bollinger Shipyards sites re-open after Hurricane Ida

Bollinger Shipyards sites in Port Fourchon, Larose, Lockport and Houma suffered significant damage from Hurricane Ida, but are all now back up and running, reports The Maritime Executive.

Bollinger says that its Lockport facility sustained damage, but is already back to working on the manufacture of the U.S. Coast Guard’s Fast Response Cutters, a midsize patrol vessel. Despite the disruption, Bollinger Lockport is ahead of schedule for the next vessel in the series.

However, there remain significant impediments to maritime commerce in Lafourche Parish. The U.S. Coast Guard and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers have identified 85 wrecked or grounded vessels in Bayou Lafourche, including OSVs, fishing vessels, crew boats and houseboats. Read the full story.
