Texas-based MCM Plastics is spending $2.7 million to expand its plastics production facility in Holden.

According to Louisiana Economic Development, the company’s project will create five new jobs with an annual salary of $27,000 and contribute to the retention of 15 positions.

“As we witness a new era of growth for Louisiana’s petrochemical industry, it’s exciting to see how growth spreads through our economy in strategic ways,” Louisiana Gov. John Bel Edwards said in a statement. “The decision by MCM Plastics to expand its Holden plant demonstrates how entrepreneurs making the most of technology and reinvestment can strengthen our industrial economy in meaningful ways within their communities.”

The first phase company’s project involves the installation of a new dryer system in the 100,000-square-foot plant by July. In the second phase, MCM Plastics will bring another dryer system into operation and build 25,000 square feet of space for warehousing.

“In the last couple of years, the company has seen growth in the amount of resin processed by both our Houston and Holden facilities,” MCM Plastics President Richard Morris said in the announcement. “By working with the governing authorities in the state of Louisiana and Livingston Parish, we are grateful for the opportunity to expand our Holden plant so that our operations there can continue to flourish.”

MCM’s Holden facility dries, screens, and sometimes pulverizes polyvinyl chloride (PVC) resin for in PVC-based products like piping.
