Manufacturer to open industrial gearbox facility in Slidell

International manufacturer Horsburgh & Scott Company announced last week that it has established a 32,000-square-foot facility in Slidell for the repair, service and assembly of industrial gears and gearboxes destined for the defense industry.

The Cleveland-based company expects its $4.9 million capital investment in St. Tammany Parish to create 40 direct new jobs at an annual average salary of more than $100,000. Louisiana Economic Development estimates an additional 57 indirect new jobs, for a total of 97 potential new jobs in the Southeast Region of the state.

Horsburgh & Scott’s decision to build a new gearbox manufacturing and repair facility in the Gulf Coast region is the result of a recent new defense contract and increased demand for its industrial gearing products/service industrial unit. Read more.
