Gifford Briggs is leaving the Louisiana Oil & Gas Association.

The association president, who has been with the organization since 2007, is leaving on Sept. 11 to become the Gulf Coast Region Director for the American Petroleum Institute. He has been the voice and face of the Louisiana oil and gas industry, advocating for legislation to bring the state’s legal, regulatory, and tax environment in line with other states. He served for nearly a decade serving as the organization’s vice president and was named to the top spot in 2018 when his father, Don Briggs, retired after more than two decades in the role.

Mike Moncla, who has served on the LOGA Board of Directors for more than a decade and the LOGA Executive Committee for the past three years, has been named interim president. He is the vice president of marketing at DrilTech LLC and a partner at Moncla Workover & Drilling in Lafayette.

Kati Hyer, who has been with LOGA since January 2019, has also been named vice president of communications.
