Placid Refining Company has a deep-rooted commitment to Louisiana’s energy sector.

Over the last 50 years, the company has invested approximately $650 million on refinery expansions, upgrades and modernizations, which have collectively grown its production capacity from 36 to 75 million barrels per day and diversified the types of products the refinery can process and produce.

Placid primarily produces transportation fuels for the southeast U.S. and is a major supplier of jet fuel for the U.S. Department of Defense. Other principal products include propylene.

Its products are distributed across the southeastern United States, from Texas to Maryland.
In 2023, the privately held company, led by President Rob Beadle, made a pivotal move by relocating its corporate headquarters from Dallas to Baton Rouge to better support its central operations. Today, the company’s workforce is 99.6% Louisiana-based, with its contract workforce 100% local, and it strives to support local businesses.
