Cheniere Energy has become a central player in Louisiana’s energy landscape.
Founded in 1996 by Charif Souki as an oil and gas exploration company, in the early 2000s the company shifted its focus to LNG. Today, Cheniere is the largest producer of LNG in the U.S. and the second largest LNG operator in the world.
Since 2016, the company has shipped more than 4,000 cargos of LNG to more than 40 markets in five continents, more than half of which have been produced and exported from its Sabine Pass facility in Cameron Parish.
