Baton Rouge-based HRM Concrete and Jennings-based Port Aggregates have formed HPDC, a joint venture with two out-of-state companies, Concrete Supply Co. and Dawkins On-Site Concrete. The venture will supply concrete and construction aggregates for major projects across Louisiana.
The partnership comes as Louisiana faces growing demand for construction materials tied to data centers, industrial developments, petrochemical expansions and other major projects. The companies say HPDC will let them combine existing Louisiana production and trucking networks with portable, on-site concrete plants that can handle large or remote projects.
“Louisiana is absorbing more concrete and construction aggregates than any single company in this state can cover on the schedule these projects require,” HRM Concrete principal Tripp Heck said in a statement. “HPDC puts Louisiana producers at the center of that work and brings in the portable-plant and mass-pour capacity the mega-projects demand.”
HRM operates nine ready-mix plants and 100 mixer trucks, with operations covering the Capital Region and portions of north Louisiana. Its current work includes data center projects in Shreveport, Richland Parish and St. Francisville. Port Aggregates operates 24 locations across southwest and central Louisiana and has a fleet of 100 mixer trucks.
Concrete Supply Co., based in North Carolina, brings experience from more than 100 production facilities, while South Carolina-based Dawkins On-Site specializes in portable concrete production for large industrial projects.
HPDC will provide ready-mix concrete, portable batch plants, construction aggregates, precast products and technical support for large concrete pours. The companies will continue operating their existing businesses independently, with HPDC focused on projects requiring more production capacity than one partner could provide alone.
