ExxonMobil boosts petrochemical capacity in Baton Rouge

ExxonMobil has ramped up more polypropylene production at its petrochemicals complex in Baton Rouge, increasing capacity to 450,000 metric tons/year, reports Natural Gas Intelligence.

The integrated Louisiana complex produces transportation fuels and various products including polypropylene. “With the startup of this new production unit, we are well positioned to responsibly meet the growing global demand for these high-performance polymers,” says ExxonMobil Product Solutions President Karen McKee.

ExxonMobil noted that it maintained its investments in the project through the pandemic and related economic downturn. Total capital investment was more than $500 million. With the investment, ExxonMobil set its sights on reducing the facility’s volatile organic compound emissions by up to 10%. Read the entire story.
