Renewable energy provider D. E. Shaw Renewable has signed three solar power off-take agreements with Entergy Louisiana. The multimillion dollar solar facilities will be built under power purchase agreements or build transfer agreements with Entergy, to boost the provider’s renewables portfolio.

Two adjacent solar facilities, the Vacherie Solar Energy Center and the Louisiana Solar Project, in St. James Parish will both be 150 MWac, meaning they will have the capacity to produce 150 million watts of electricity. The Sunlight Road Solar Project in Washington Parish will produce 50 million watts.

Vacherie and SJ Solar will be DESRI’s second and third solar facilities in St. James Parish, following the 20 MWac St. James Solar Project. Sunlight Road will be DESRI’s second solar facility in Washington Parish, following the 50 MWac Iris Solar Project.

Vacherie, SJ Solar, and Sunlight Road are scheduled to supply energy to Entergy customers beginning in 2024 and will create several hundred construction jobs as they’re being built. When the projects are operational, DESRI will be the long-term owner and operator of Vacherie and Sunlight Road, while Entergy will take ownership of SJ Solar. See the announcement.
